Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three suspects reported to have robbed a pastor.
In a statement on Saturday, February 24, DCI indicated that the suspects robbed the pastor of his phone and cash as he was heading towards a restaurant near the Nyayo National Stadium.
The pastor told the detectives that he was planning for the forthcoming Benny Hinn crusade set to be held at the Nyayo National Stadium when three men forced him into a saloon car.
The men then stripped the pastor naked and took pictures of him to ensure no blackmail him into giving them all his money.
Afterwards, the robbers forced the man to reveal his Mpesa pin or risk having the photos shared with members of the public on social media.
“Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, Alphonce Munyau and Samuel Musembi Kamito were arrested at their respective residents in Syokimau, Kitengela and Kamito in an operation led by the DCI Nairobi Area Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau detectives backed up by their Lang’ata counterparts.
“Once in the car, the man of the cloth reported to have been stripped naked and photos of him taken before he was forced to reveal his Mpesa pin lest the photos be uploaded on his social media platforms,” indicated DCI.

Amount in Cash and Items Stolen from the Pastor
Further DCI indicated that the pastor transferred Ksh55,000 to one of the men who were robbing him from his Mpesa before he was released.
Also, the suspects made away with his phone.
DCI tracked the men to the Village apartment in Syokimau where the first suspect named Bernard Mbygya was arrested. The officers searched Benerd’s house and recovered an Iphone 13 with a sim card that received the stolen Ksh55,000.
They also found the man in possession of a card swapping machine and two other phones. The second suspect, Alphonce, was found in possession of the pastor’s phone.
“After a brief interrogation, Benerd led the team to Kitengela where his accomplice Alphonce Manyau was arrested at Stengo 1 Apartment, in whose possession was the victim’s phone,” added DCI.

The second suspect then led the officers to the third suspect, Samuel, who was arrested in Katani, Athi River.
Benny Hinn Crusade
The American televangelist is expected in Nairobi for a mega crusade “Healing the Nation Crusade” expected to take place on Saturday, February 24, and Sunday, February 25.
The crusade is scheduled to take place at Nyayo Stadium marking a historical moment as the televangelist would be coming to Kenya after more than two decades since his last visit.
Although Hinn had in September 2023, been invited to the country by First Lady Rachel Ruto, the events steering committee refuted any claims of the event being funded by the government.
They indicated that the crusade was being organized entirely by Kenyan churches.
“The event has been organized, funded and coordinated by the churches of Kenya, which include both mainstream and evangelical churches in Kenya, with the aim of connecting the body of Christ in Kenya with the global body of Christ,” a statement read by Bishop Harrison Ng’ang’a read in part.
