President William Ruto has been invited to participate in the upcoming “Summit on Peace in Ukraine,” scheduled to be held in Switzerland from June 15 to 16, 2024.
In a statement from the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi, this development follows an urgent demarche from the European Union Delegation in Nairobi.
In a meeting on Friday at the Railways Headquarters, Prime CS Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, discussed the summit with EU officials led by Ambassador Henriette Geiger.
The summit aims to address critical global issues including nuclear security, food security, freedom of navigation, and humanitarian concerns.
Ukraine Peace Summit
The summit seeks to foster a comprehensive, just, and durable peace in Ukraine, grounded in the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Additionally, it aims to initiate high-level discussions on a roadmap for involving both conflicting parties in a peace process.

Dr. Mudavadi emphasized the significance of the summit and noted that President Ruto’s invitation will be given serious consideration.
Kenya remains committed to advocating for a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict through diplomatic dialogue.
This invitation comes barely a week after President Ruto came back from the US state visit.
President Ruto Recent US State Visit
President William Ruto on Monday, May 20, arrived in the United States of America for his three-day state visit.

The visit which was historic as it was the first State Visit by a Kenyan Head of State in two decades and the first by an African Head of State since 2008.
Ruto held bilateral meetings with his host President Joe Biden on May 23, demonstrating a robust partnership between Kenya and United States.

The two leaders delved deeper into Kenya-US economic, health, and security partnership, and discussed regional developments on the continent highlighting the fragilities and opportunities on the continent.
The President highlighted his famous bottom-up agenda in his remarks on Kenya-US partnership that aims to transform Kenya’s economy through job creation and wealth generation.
“Mindful of this capacity, Kenya is pursuing a bold bottom-up economic transformation agenda to drive inclusive growth, job creation, and wealth generation,” President Ruto said.
