Popular X influencer Albert Ojwang has died under mysterious circumstances while in police custody.
According to information shared online by social media influencer Cyprian Nyakundi, Ojwang was arrested on Saturday, June 7, afternoon in Migori County.
According to reports by his family, Albert Ojwang was arrested by officers believed to be attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
He was allegedly arrested in connection to a series of X posts he made.

Police Explain How the X influencer Died
Further, Ojwang was driven to Nairobi and detained at the Central Police Station.
However, according to close friends and family, his name was never entered into the Occurrence Book (OB), which is an expected routine police procedure.
By Sunday morning, news broke that Ojwang was dead.
According to the family, police officers indicated that the X influencer injured himself at night while in custody and was rushed to Mbagathi Hospital,.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival. The explanation has sparked anger among Kenyans online, with many accusing the police of a cover-up.
“How did Albert Ojwang who was alive before the police took him in Migori “Injure” himself to his death? We need a vivid explanation as to how that happens and in the hands of the police.
“Many Kenyans have and are emerging dead after being abducted/taken by the police,” X user Bravin noted.
Earlier, preliminary reports indicated that Kelvin Moinde, a X influencer, was arrested in Kisii County by DCI officers and transported to Nairobi.

The Arrest of Rose Njeri
The news follows the arrest of a software and website developer Rose Njeri on Friday, May 30, 2025 for the unauthorized interference with a computer system.
Njeri was accused of creating a program that sent mass emails to a parliamentary address.
“On the 19th day of May, 2025, at 20:01 HRS, at an unknown location within the Republic of Kenya, you knowingly made a program hosted at https://civicemail.netlify.app/ that automatically generated and sent mass emails to [email protected],
“Which is the official system of the Finance Committee, thereby interfering with the normal functioning of the systems,” her charge sheet read in part.
Rose Njeri’s arrest has received widespread condemnation from political leaders, activists and civil society groups accusing the government of curtailing the freedom of expression.
