MPs Meeting with UASU & University Management
On November 8, Moi University staff issued fresh demands over plans to reopen the institution.
The workers confronted the National Assembly Committee that was meeting with the University’s management, the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) and the Kenya Universities Staff Union (KUSU) officials over reopening plans.
The academic and non-academic workers wanted the committee chaired by Tinderet Member of Parliament (MP) Julius Melly to remove Moi’s management stating that the institution should start over again.
“Haturudi kazi (We’re not going back to work),” they chanted while holding placards outside the administration block.

He told the VC and the University management to ensure that no one is victimized in any way.
“You have been very patient and have really sacrificed your life. All my members are here, we are fifteen members of my committee, and we have seen here, we have never seen anywhere. I want to assure you that all that you have said, and one of the things you have discussed here is a caretaker management,” he said.
