Farah Maalim was born in 1966. He did his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education at Maseno High school, a national school and an academic giant domiciled in Kisumu. 

The vocal politician has a degree in law from the University of Nairobi.

He graduated from Kimmage University with a B.A in Developmental studies.  He has an ongoing course at the University of Nairobi.

Professional Background 

He is the currently the elected member of parliament for Dadaab since 2022 and a member of Speaker’s panel.

In addition, Maalim has served in the National Assembly as the deputy speaker of the National Assembly from 2008-2013.

Before becoming the Deputy speaker of the National Assembly, he was elected as a member of parliament for Lagdera constituency.

Also, in 2013, he was an aspirant for the senatorial position for Garissa. 

He was a member of parliament aspirant for Garissa township under the Wiper democratic movement in 2017.

Moreover, Farah Maalim has served in the following committees in the previous parliament. The 7th parliament he worked in the Energy committee a member. In the 10th parliament he served on the standing orders committee as the Vice chair.

What’s more, Maalim drew widespread uproar after he slammed Kenyans who are not supporting President William Ruto‘s development agenda.

The veteran legislator also suggested that Ruto would make a comeback in 2032 as Kenya’s Prime Minister after he serves a second term as President.

“Some people are saying Ruto must go. Why, has he refused the seat of your mother or father? We will elect him, and we will bring him back with 99 percent of the votes from the Northeastern province,” Maalim said in the Presence of Ruto.

He added, “Ruto will remain in office until 2032, and when his term ends, I will amend the constitution, implement the parliamentary system, and bring him back as Prime Minister.”
