Long serving Taveta Member of Parliament Naomi Shaban has conceded defeat even before the announcement of official results
Shaban says that provisional results indicate that Wiper party candidate Bwire Okanao is likely to emerge the winner.
Okanao has opened a wide lead over Shaban signaling to her defeat.
Shaban, who was running on a jubilee party ticket was seeking a fifth term in office
The MP has since congratulated the opponent for the imminent victory.
“Good people, there is time for everything. Well done team Bwire,” she posted.
“Thank you for giving me a chance to serve you for 20 years. My young brother Okano, I congratulate you.”
The 58-year-old joined parliament in 2002 after unseating former MP Basil Criticos.
In the 2017 general elections, Shaban had threatened to pull out of the race after she accused her jubilee party of working with her opponents.
She was latter prevailed upon by President Uhuru Kenyatta and retained her seat.
Other candidates in the race are Didas Mzirai of United Democratic Alliance(UDA), Morris Mutiso (ODM) and Kangethe Muutu (Independent).
