Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has apologized for remarks he made against police officers during a Kenya Kwanza campaign rally in Kakamega
Malala says that his remarks on Police officers’ recruitment requirements were taken out of context.
The Senator had insinuated that police recruitment should be a preserve of school dropouts and those who fail to qualify to join universities.
“It is in light of this that I wish to withdraw my remarks and apologize to our disciplined forces for the discomfort my remarks may have caused,” said Malala.
The National Police Service through its spokesman Bruno Shioso had termed Malala’s remarks as outrageous and unwarranted as it demeaned police officers .
Shioso said the senators’ remarks were only aimed at scandalizing a noble profession deployed for the good of the public.
