Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has announced that Monday, July 11, 2022, is a public holiday.
Through a gazette notice issued on Friday, July, 8 CS Matiang’i said Monday will be a holiday marking Eid al-Adha.
The gazette notice dated July 8, 2022 reads: “It is notified for general information that in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3 as read with section 2 (2) of the Public Holidays Act (Cap. 110), the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government declares Monday, 11th July, 2022 a public holiday marking Idd–ul –Adha.”
Moreover, Eid al-Adha also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, is the second and the biggest celebration within the Islam community.

Muslims celebrate this day to honor the willingness of the Islamic Prophet Ibrahim, to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to Allah’s command.
