Footballer-turned politician McDonald Mariga has said that he will not be intimidated by people who are out to discourage his Kibera parliamentary hopes.
Mariga’s remarks comes after the incident on Monday, May 30 where he was purportedly attacked by goons who broke his arm and disrupted his campaign rally.
“You see they have broken my hand but they will not intimidate me,” said Mr. Mariga in a video circulating online.
Mariga who is contesting for the Kibera Parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party ticket further blamed his attack on his opponents. He stated that they have been carrying out peaceful campaigns but there are now some politicians hiring youths to harm him and his efforts.
The aspiring politician further mentioned that he had filed a report with the police to make sure the culprits are punished.
“If they think they will intimidate me by beating me and my supporters, they are wrong. We will campaign even harder and have set our eyes on the prize.” “This is not the Kibra we want.” Mariga said.
