CCTV footage circulating online captured a dramatic crash involving a speeding vehicle near Ole Sereni, showing the moments leading up to the incident.
The footage shows two vehicles travelling at high speed before one of them appears to lose control. The vehicle then veers off course and crashes into a roadside barrier.
Moments after the impact, the vehicle bursts into flames, sending fire and smoke into the air as other motorists on the road continue past the scene.
Several media reports and videos widely shared on social media highlight the severity of the crash and spark discussion among road users.
“Terrible road traffic crash reported near Ole Sereni on the Southern Bypass,” Road Sense Kenya (RSK) reported.

The video, from the footage recorded on the night of Saturday, May 31, 2026 by a security camera positioned near a highway overpass marked K14+896R, captured the incident shortly after 8:29 p.m.

The footage shows several vehicles travelling along the multi-lane highway under the overpass. A dark-coloured vehicle can be seen approaching at high speed in the inner lanes, with its headlights visible from a distance as it closes in on other traffic.
As the vehicle moves closer, it appears to lose stability before suddenly veering off its path. Within seconds, the car crashes into a roadside barrier or concrete structure along the left side of the highway.
The impact triggers an immediate fire, with bright flames erupting from the wreckage. Thick smoke quickly begins spreading across parts of the road, creating a dramatic scene captured by the camera.
In the moments that follow, flames continue engulfing the vehicle as smoke billows over nearby lanes. Other motorists can be seen slowing down, navigating around the scene, or continuing past the burning wreckage.
The footage continues for more than a minute after the collision, showing the fire still active and dense smoke lingering over the highway. The incident unfolded within seconds, from the vehicle’s loss of control to the eruption of flames.

The crash occurred along the Nairobi Southern Bypass near the Ole Sereni Interchange, a busy section of road that connects Mombasa Road to western parts of Nairobi, including Lang’ata, Ngong Road, and Kikuyu.
The accident scene is located just outside the renowned Ole Sereni Hotel, a major landmark situated at the junction of Mombasa Road and the Southern Bypass.
The area is a key transport corridor used daily by motorists travelling between Nairobi’s central business district, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, and other parts of the city.
