Despite the damage, Khalwale expressed immense relief, stating, “My son Tigana Khalwale came out of this accident at Ainabkoi last night alive and unscratched! God is good!”
Tigana was involved in the road crash just days after his father had celebrated him for his recent progress, which included significant milestones in his personal and family life.

Khalwale had recently shared a moment of pride in guiding his son and daughter-in-law during a traditional rite marking the beginning of construction.
“This morning, I basked in a father’s pleasure in guiding my son and his wife during the ‘shisuli’ laying ceremony of their house currently under construction,” Khalwale said while sharing a video of the house under construction.
For years, many Kenyans have been questioning the number of children Senator Khalwale has.

The question of his family details often arises whenever the Kakamega Senator takes to social media to celebrate his children mostly for their performances during the release of national examination results.
Not once, twice or even thrice has Senator Khalwale posted about the performance of his different children on his social media platform.
Proud of his children and marriage, he has at numerous times publicly admitted to being a polygamous man.
In a press conference in 2024, the senator revealed that he has four wives and 17 children.
Nephew passes away
The crash came a day after another tragic event, when his nephew was caught up in a gold mine that collapsed in Machilisi village, located in Shinyalu Constituency.

The Kakamega Senator confirmed that his nephew passed away on Tuesday afternoon while revealing that he was among the three who perished.
Speaking at the scene, he condemned investors in the region, accusing them of exploiting local youth while profiting from the area’s gold resources without community involvement.
He claimed said that the investors smuggled approximately Ksh1.2 billion worth of gold from the mine every month.
Additionally, he attributed the tragedy to unsafe mining practices, blaming investors for taking shortcuts that endanger local miners.
“I am currently at Machilisi village, where a gold mine collapsed last night, trapping 22 men. So far, 19 have been rescued, but three are feared dead, including my nephew, Sasita Chui,” Khalwale stated.
“For over a century, our people have engaged in gold mining safely. However, some investors have been here for over 20 years, claiming to be conducting research while secretly extracting gold.”
The Senator at the same time called on the government to put in place regulations that allow the county government to receive revenue from the mining activities.
