Four people, including three students from Dr. Aggrey Boys’ High School in Wundanyi constituency, have been confirmed dead in an accident in Taita Taveta County.
Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Moi Referral Hospital and St. Joseph Mission Hospital in Voi for treatment.
The accident occurred on Saturday, February 1, when a minibus lost control after suffering a brake failure at the dangerous Josa bend on the Wundanyi-Mwatate Road.

Students Feared Dead, Several Injured in Bus Accident
The students were returning home after a second fire incident at their school forced the administration to close the institution and send them home.
The inferno, which broke out two days after another dormitory fire on Thursday night, sent thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky as alarms rang across the school.

Students and staff were thrown into a frenzy, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Quick action from students, the local community, and the county firefighting department helped contain the flames before they could spread further.
Despite the chaos, all students were safely evacuated, and no injuries have been reported’
The incident comes hours after a tragic road accident on the Dongo Kundu Bypass early Saturday morning claimed two lives and left two others injured.
The fatal crash occurred at around 5:40 a.m. near Kilomita Kumi and involved a Toyota Isis and another vehicle.

According to police reports from the Likoni Traffic Base, the Toyota Isis was heading from Dongo Kundu towards Miritini with two passengers on board.
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle veered off his lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car. The impact was severe, killing the Toyota Isis driver on the spot. One of his passengers, identified only as Teresia, also succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Fortunately, the other two occupants from the two vehicles sustained injuries and were rushed to Mombasa Hospital for medical attention.
A day earlier, a fatal collision occurred on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway near Voi leaving one dead and four injured.
According to a police report, the crash involved two lorries that collided head-on near a stationery bus which had broken down along the highway.
