Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya intervened in the rescue of accident victims after encountering a road crash at Maili Saba along the Kitale–Eldoret Highway while returning from a church function on Saturday.
According to May 24 media reports, the governor had attended the the opening of St Paul’s Parish, Motosiet, Cherangany Constituency, and consecration service of the new St. Paul’s Motosiet Parish before the accident occurred along the busy highway.
“As Governor George Natembeya was returning from the Catholic opening, blessing, and consecration service of the new St. Paul’s Motosiet Parish, he encountered a tragic accident involving a small Wish vehicle traveling from Eldoret,” confirmed part of a local media report.
The incident, as seen in photos shared by The Kenya Times, involved a Toyota Wish that was reportedly traveling from Eldoret.
Natembeya Steps In After Tragic Maili Saba Road Crash
From available details, the circumstances surrounding the crash and the number of casualties were not immediately disclosed.
Reports indicate that Governor Natembeya and members of his team immediately stopped to assist the injured victims after arriving at the scene.

The victims were reportedly transported using the governor’s official vehicle and rushed to Wamalwa Kijana Referral Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
“Using the Governor’s official vehicle, they immediately intervened, picked up the injured victims, and rushed them to the Wamalwa Kijana Referral Hospital,” confirmed the reports.
Two Feared Dead as KBS Bus Overturns in Horrific Kodhek Road Crash
In a separate accident, which happened on the same day, two people are feared dead, and several others are nursing injuries after a tragic road accident that happened at the Valley Arcade area along Kodhek Road involving a Kenya Bus Service (KBS) bus.
“Several passengers were injured after a KBS bus reportedly lost brakes and overturned near Argwings Kodhek Road in Nairobi. Emergency responders rushed to the scene as investigations into the accident began,” confirmed Switch Media reports.

Images and videos shared online show the bus overturned, with people surrounding the wreckage as they try to save the passengers.
Other images show injured passengers lying on the ground as rescue operations are underway.
Traffic police responded to the scene to clear the wreckage and lead the rescue operations.
Further reports detailed that the bus was speeding along the route when it lost control and crashed into the nearby vehicles and pedestrians.
Traffic along the busy route was disrupted for several hours as police investigated the possible cause of the accident.
