United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Politician Godfrey Mapesa from Lumakanda Ward passed away in a tragic road accident on April 14 morning.
In a statement, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale said that Mapesa was driving his car when he crashed at Mwamba area in Lugari, Kakamega County.
Additionally, Images of the scene showed the front part of the car including the bonnet and headlights completely shattered from the impact. The windshield and the upper part of the vehicle was also destroyed.
“A fatal road traffic accident at Mwamba in Lugari has this morning claimed the life of our friend and political comrade, Godfrey Mapesa.
” It’s hard to come to terms with this. I extend my condolences to the people of Lumakanda ward, his family, colleagues, and friends,” Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale said.

Mapesa was among the politicians who vied for the position of Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Lumakanda during the 2022 general elections.
Friends and family of the politicians took to social media to mourn him, noting that he was a young and promising leader.
Police had not issued a statement on the details of the accident by the time of publishing this article.
Meru Deputy Speaker and Child in Accident
In a separate incident on April 2, Meru County Deputy Speaker Mwenda Ali was involved in a grisly road accident along the Meru-Embu highway, claiming the life of his six-year-old child.
The Accident occurred when the Subaru vehicle that the deputy speaker and his family were travelling in burst into flames after colliding head-on with a Toyota double cabin at Kivwe village in Embu County.

Ali’s two-year-old child and another passenger sustained severe injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Further, a police report indicated that Mwenda was in the front passenger seat. He sustained a deep cut on the forehead and dislocated his left knee.
In addition, his driver, 35-year-old Michael Mwongera, 35, was injured during the highway accident.
