Inclusive National Justice, Economic and Civic Transformation (INJECT) party leader Morara Kebaso has been arrested.
The political activist was arrested while in his office in Kahawa Sukari and logged into a Subaru Forester KCQ 166J.
According to preliminary reports, the activist was arrested for allegedly conning Kenyans and insulting President William Ruto.
Colleagues and lawyers immediately followed the Subaru to the police station where he was held for questioning.
According to lawyers who rushed to the regional police headquarters in Nairobi to defend Morara, the police informed them that they had received instruction not to allow anyone to see the activist.
The list of prohibited individuals included lawyers, journalists, or any other activist opposing the arrest.
About 30 minutes before he was arrested, Morara posted a video calling for the arrest of Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir.

Kenyan Activist Mull Protest After Morara Arrest
The arrest has stirred up Kenyans online with many calling for protests on Tuesday, October 1, if Morara is not released.
Already, a FreeMorara hashtag is trending on X with posters being circulated calling for action from the authorities.
“We have confirmation that Morara Kebaso is being held at Nairobi Regional police headquarters after being taken from his Kahawa offices.
“Attempts by lawyers and colleagues to access have been thwarted by police at the gate. Crowds are beginning to gather outside the police station gate. This is totally unacceptable,” Vocal Africa founder Hussein Khalid said.
“They’ve arrested Morara and tomorrow is Tuesday. Yes?” Hanifa Farsafa stated.
Kenyans of goodwill have on several occasions raised millions to continue Morara’s job of exposing President William Ruto’s failed promises.

State House Spokesperson VS the Activist
Earlier on August 28, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed and Morara Kebaso locked horns on live television over claims that Ruto reached out to him.
Morara alleged that President Ruto offered him a position within his government in an attempt to silence his criticisms regarding the unfulfilled projects and broken promises across the country.
“I received calls from those close to the President, and eventually, the President himself reached out to me.”
“However, I declined the offer because I believe that there are enough people in government, and frankly, I wouldn’t want to be part of the corruption that seems pervasive there,” said Morara.
In response, Hussein said that the claims were untrue and shocking, adding that it was outrageous for him to respond to such comments because there was no way the president would have made that phone call.
“I am shocked at what the gentleman Morara is saying. I wonder why he would lie on national TV that the President called him. It is ridiculous that I have to respond to this but let me do it.”
