The father of a Senate Speaker Amason Kingi is dead. In a statement on February 9, n Kingi announced the death of his father Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa.
Kingi recalled the good moments he shared with his father including the recent one in December 2024.

He said Mwaruwa has battled many diseases in recent years, and they were celebrating his recovery in December 25 without knowing that was the last time they were having such a moment together.
“Dad, Our Patriarch Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa Has Rested. Since I attained adulthood, I don’t remember ever dancing with you, Dad. Not until the 25th of December 2024 during Christmas at Mjanaheri village when, for the very first time, we danced, danced and danced together until sunset,” Kingi said.

“Your face beamed with joy. We were not just celebrating Christmas but giving thanks to the Almighty for your remarkable recovery after years of battling many ailments. I didn’t know that dance would be the first and last with you, Dad.”
Amason Kingi Tribute to His Father
Kingi thanked his father for imparting valuable lessons in him that helped him succeed in life.

“It is this lesson that has pushed me this far. Indeed, you were God’s gift to us. I would never have asked for a better father,” he said.
“Dad, may the Angels open the Gates of Heaven and welcome another Angel with a dance just like we did at Mjanaheri. Until we meet again, Dad.”
President William Ruto sent his condolences to Kingi’s family and described his late father as a respected, progressive, and hardworking individual.
“Our condolences to the Speaker of the Senate for the loss of his dear father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa. Mheshimiwa Amason Kingi, the family and the people of Kilifi are in our prayers during this difficult time. Rest In Peace,” Ruto said.
Condolence Messages
Former Cabinet Secretary (CS) and current chairperson Kenya Roads Board Aisha Jumwa sent a condolence message to Speaker Kingi and his family.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Speaker Kingi following the passing of your dear Father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa. May you find the strength and grace to bear this loss and may the Lord grant Mzee eternal rest,” Jumwa said.

Commissioner, Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) Johnson Muthama also condoled with Kingi’s family.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Senate Speaker Kingi following the death of their father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa,” Muthama said.
“My prayers and sympathy are with them during this difficult time and may Mzee Kingi’s soul rest in eternal peace.”

Lawyer George Kithi, who was PAA’s Kilifi gubernatorial candidate, mourned Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa as a hardworking man with a well-known reputation across the county.
Kithi said he had a telephone conversation with Speaker Kingi, during which he conveyed his heartfelt condolences.
“Through his strictness and the love for education his family produced the first governor of Kilifi a time where devolved system was set to roll out in the country. To my brother Amason, know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sorrowful time,” Kithi said.
