Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has been ranked Kenya’s best-performing MP.
The lawmaker garnered an 80 per cent approval rating in the latest Infotrak survey.
According to the survey findings presented on Wednesday, July 1, Babu Owino maintained the top position after Infotrak repeated part of the study to validate the results.
“We first conducted the survey in January in Nairobi. However, because we wanted to validate the findings and ensure the results were accurate, we repeated the study in May. This gave us confidence that the numbers were reliable,” Infotrak CEO Angela Mbitho said.

What Kenyans Considered in Ranking
Infotrak said the survey also sought to understand the factors that influence how Kenyans rate their MPs.
According to the findings, many voters assess MPs not only by their performance in Parliament but also by their visibility in the constituency and their ability to address local challenges.
The survey found that constituents expect MPs to remain accessible after elections, respond to individual and community concerns, participate in local development initiatives and maintain a strong presence on the ground.
Researchers noted that this expectation has developed over several electoral cycles, with many MPs campaigning on their development record and direct engagement with constituents.
Respondents said an MP’s visibility, accessibility and responsiveness significantly influence public confidence.
The survey further found that Kenyans evaluate MPs based on several key areas, including effective management of constituency development resources and representation of constituents’ interests.
Others include participation in legislation and policy-making, oversight of national government expenditure, monitoring the implementation of development programmes and addressing public requests.
