Former Member of Parliament for Garissa North, Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf, has died.
In a statement, Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman announced that the former MP, popularly known as Tallie, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Garissa North MP Hon. Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf, alias Tallie, who passed away earlier today. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time, and I pray that Allah grants them strength and patience to bear this loss.
May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him an eternal abode in Jannatul Firdaus. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un,” said Osman.
Former Garissa North MP Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf Dies
According to reports, the former Member of Parliament passed away earlier on Friday, August 22, 2025, while on his way back to Kenya from Australia.

Following his death, Kenyans, led by political leaders, have sent messages of condolence to his family. Health Cabinet Secretary Adan Duale said:
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. Following the death of our leader and elder Hon. Abdikadir Hassan Yusuf (Tolli), former MP for Garissa North Constituency, we pray: O Allah, forgive him and elevate his station among those who are guided. Send him along the path of those who came before, and forgive us and him, O Lord of the worlds.

Leaders mourn the late MP
Dertu MCA Aden Odawa noted that the late MP would be remembered for his service, dedication, and immense contributions to the people of Garissa and the nation at large.
“We pray to Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, shower mercy upon him, and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus. We also pray that Allah grants his family, friends, and constituents patience and strength during this difficult time,” said the MCA.

A nephew of the former MP, Abdiaziz Mohamed Yusuf Ateye, described him as an inspirational leader
“To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. May Allah rest in peace the soul of my uncle Abdikadir Hassan Yusuf, alias Tolly, the former Garissa North MP. He was an inspirational leader,” said his nephew.
