Jambojet has confirmed an incident involving Flight JM8650, which was scheduled to operate from Nairobi to Kisumu on the morning of July 26.
In a statement issued on July 26 by the Jambojet Corporate Communications, the airline said Flight JM8650, operated by aircraft 5Y-JXL, experienced a system caution alert at approximately 6:00 a.m. before takeoff.
As a safety precaution, the crew aborted the takeoff, Jambojet said.
“Jambojet wishes to confirm that at approximately 0600hrs today, flight JM 8650, operated on 5Y-JXL from Nairobi to Kisumu, experienced a system caution alert before takeoff and as a safety precautionary measure, takeoff was aborted,” the statement read in part.
Jambojet Passengers Safely Evacuated After Flight Aborts Takeoff
In their statement, Jambojet confirmed that all guests and crew safely disembarked from the aircraft after the aborted takeoff.
The airline said those on board received the necessary assistance from its ground team, while the aircraft was safely moved back to the bay for technical evaluation by the maintenance team.

“We can confirm all the guests and crew safely disembarked from the aircraft and received the necessary assistance from our team on the ground. The aircraft was safely moved back to the bay for technical evaluation by our maintenance team,” they confirmed.
Jambojet apologized for the distress and inconvenience caused by the incident, assuring passengers that the safety and well-being of its guests and crew remain its top priority.
“We sincerely apologize for the distress and inconvenience this incident may have caused and assure that the safety and well-being of our guests and crew remain our top priority,” the airline said.

Jambojet Assures Passengers Amid Uncertainty Over Aviation Workers’ Strike
Kenyan budget airline Jambojet has sought to reassure its passengers of continued service amid looming strike by aviation workers.
According to the airline, flights will continue as scheduled, despite a strike notice issued by the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) targeting four major players in the country’s aviation sector.
Speaking Friday, July 17, KAWU secretary general Moses Ndiema confirmed that the planned industrial action would involve staff at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Kenya Airways, the Kenya Airports Authority and Jambojet.
He accused the four organizations of persistently violating collective bargaining agreements signed with their workers, and said the strike notice took effect on Monday, July 20, warning that unresolved grievances would disrupt operations across the industry.
In a position statement issued Saturday, July 25, Jambojet pushed back on suggestions that it is bound by any such collective arrangement with the union.
“Jambojet does not have a formal arrangement with KAWU under which employment terms and conditions are negotiated collectively on behalf of its employees,” the airline said.
