The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has issued the way forward for the removal of Chief Justice Martha Koome and six other Supreme Court judges.
In a statement on Thursday, January 16, JSC acknowledged the receipt of a petition dated January 10, 2025, by Nelson Havi against the Judges of the Supreme Court.
The judges named include Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Justice Mohammed Ibrahim, Justice Dr. Smokin Wanjala, and Lady Justice Njoki Ndungu.
Also, Justice Isaac Lenaola and Justice William Ouko are on the list.
According to JSC, the petitions are at various stages of processing.

JSC Received 935 Petitions Against Judges
At the same time, the commission indicated that between 2011 and 2024, it received 935 petitions.
Out of all the petitions, 862 have been finalized, and 12 petitions have been forwarded to the President with recommendations for the formation of a tribunal for the removal of the judges.
On the other hand, 73 petitions are at various stages of processing.
Moreover, in 2025 alone, the Commission has so far received five petitions for the removal of judges from office raising allegations of gross misconduct and misbehaviour.

A petition dated January 10, 2025, filed by Nelson Havi against Justice Alfred Mabeya, Judge of the High Court, raising allegations of gross misconduct and misbehaviour has been received.
Also, a petition dated December 16, 2024, by Edwin Harold Dande against Justice Alfred Mabeya, Judge of the High Court, raising allegations of gross misconduct and misbehaviour. The petition was received on 18th December 2024.
A petition dated January 10, 2025, by Nelson Havi against Justice Lucas Lepere Naikuni, Judge of the High Court, raising allegations of incompetence in discharging judicial duties. The petition was received on 13th January 2025.
