Social media influencer Scophine Aoko Otieno, popularly known as Maverick Aoko has been found.
In a statement shared on Friday, Aoko’s aide confirmed the news stating that the popular influencer was found at the Kenya -Tanzania Border.
The aide also revealed that the family received a call from a hospital where she was taken by an unidentified person.
“She’s been found at the Kenyan Tanzania border. Her family was called from a hospital. She was taken there by an unidentified person who said they found her outside their Gate,” the aide said.
“Don’t know much at the moment, but the father is on his way there. Will keep you updated. Thank you for standing with her.”
Aoko has been missing for close to 10 days since her last tweet on October 22.
Earlier, in a post on her account, the aide hinted that Aoko might have gone into hiding, a move her family and friends initially perceived as routine.
According to the aide, Aoko made the decision after posting about a prominent government figure, referred to only by the initial “F.”

“After her tweet on Mr. “F”, she went incognito, which we (family and friends) thought it normal, perhaps she just wanted to confuse enemies. We still don’t know her whereabouts. Whom do we report to? Same police who told her lawyers point-blank, ‘we are coming for her’” the aide said in a tweet.
“The family is praying for Aoko’s safety if she is hiding but asked the police to release her, if it’s true she was abducted.
“If they took her, we’re asking that they produce her, if she is hiding, we pray that she is safe and will reach out in whatever discreet way just so we can all have peace of mind.

According to the aide, Maverick Aoko chose to remain in the village with her family after her release from prison, and only travelled to Nairobi solely for meetings and court appearances.
The aide revealed that two weeks before her disappearance, unknown individuals broke into Aoko’s Nairobi residence.
She reportedly kept the incident quiet to avoid drawing attention to her presence in the city. Additionally, both her security officer and the caretaker noted encounters with unidentified men inquiring about her whereabouts.
“Two weeks ago, upon her return to Nairobi, she found her main door clobbered at the hinges. She called me panicked. I asked her to take pictures and leave. She decided not to say it to prevent drawing attention that she was around. Her caretaker and watchman also reported of strange men hovering around, asking of her whereabouts,” reads another part of the tweet.
