Biography

Scophine Otieno hails from Nyakach, Kisumu County. She was born on March 2nd, 1992. She grew up in a polygamous family, and her childhood was filled with the dynamics of a large household.

She spent her early years navigating the complexities of family life which instilled in her strong resilience and independence.

At the same time, it is believed that her upbringing in Kisumu, a city known for its vibrant culture and political activism, played a very significant role in shaping her present life.

Education and Early Career

Aoko’s academic journey began in Kisumu where she attended local schools before she moved to Nairobi for higher education. 

She took a diploma in Journalism at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication where she acquired skills in writing and reporting.

Moreover, she later proceeded to the University of Nairobi to pursue Political Science, a decision that was reengineered by her passion for politics. She is currently on with the political science course.

During her time at the university, she actively involved herself in politics and journalism through which she gained recognition for her bold and articulate voice.

She has worked for The Standard Group as well as The Kenya Report where she was Content Editor. Aoko has also written for the Royal Media Services (RMS) owned Viusasa platform as well as Norwegian Opera News.
