Days after Public Service CS Justin Muturi roped in President William Ruto in his revelations about the circumstances surrounding the abduction of his son Leslie Muturi in June last year, an ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is now calling for resignation of the Head of State.

Nyandarua Senator John Methu in a statement dated January 16, said the very public and brazen abduction of Leslie Muturi opens the lid of what has become of this administration without regard to the Rule of Law and our Constitutional Order.

“While we Congratulate Justin Muturi for his bravery in the discharge of his solemn and patriotic duty, it’s not lost that the disclosure puts the ball of abduction and the attendant ignominy squarely on the court of President William Ruto,” he said.

“President Ruto has lost the presidential stature and allure and has also failed the leadership and integrity test for his continuous breach of our constitution and must therefore immediately resign from office,” he added.

Why Senator John Methu Wants Ruto to Resign

He alleged that the revelation showed that then-CS Interior Kithure Kindiki, PS Interior Raymond Omollo, and ATPU director were clueless about the abduction, which is a clear indictment of President William Ruto having an abduction squad outside the Constitution and the parameters of our law enforcement.

According to Senator Methu, Leslie Muturi was only released because his father and the then-sitting Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya spoke directly to the president.

He said the sad question that then begs answer is what becomes of the abductees whose kith and kin are unknown to even their assistant chiefs.

“What becomes of the innocent Kenyans and in particular the GenZs who are out to condemn the plain impunity, public demonstration of opulence and excesses of this rogue administration?” He posed.

Muturi’s Shock Revelations

In statement made to the DCI, Muturi alleged that his son was abducted by people believed to be National Intelligence Service (NIS).

He shocked Kenyans with a movie-like tale of his frantic appeals to key figures within security system to secure the release of his son with no avail.

According to Muturi, it took the intervention of President Ruto who made a one call to NIS Director General Noordin Haji for Leslie to be released.

The call for resignation comes after Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka alleged that Ruto is the Commander in chief of the abductions squad which has been clearly demonstrated by his own public pronouncements on abductions and as well as of his consisted “cronies” in government.

The vocal Kenya Kwanza critic stated that President Ruto must respect the constitution and protect Kenyans, or else he should resign.

“We demand that Ruto respects Kenyans and upholds the oath of office he swore to preserve under Kenya’s 2010 constitution, and ensure the release of all remaining abductees,” Kalonzo affirmed.

“If Ruto refuses to respect and enforce Kenya’s constitution and the laws, the solution is straightforward—he should resign.”
