History of Be Energy
In the early 1990s, the Saudi-based Bakri family embarked on an aggressive expansion strategy that culminated in the firm’s entry into Kenya on February 24, 2004.
The company was initially registered as Bakri Energy and later rebranded as Be Energy.
Be Energy was established as part of the broader Be Energy Group with the vision of becoming a regional leader in oil and gas supply. At the time of its entry into the market, competition was largely driven by basic supply and demand, with relatively few dominant brands.
Today, Be Energy has expanded its operations across East Africa, supplying and marketing petroleum products in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, South Sudan, and Rwanda.
