A man committed suicide after poisoning and stabbing his four children inside their rental house in Nyagoro trading center, East Kochia in Homa Bay county.
The children aged between 3 and 9 years are currently hospitalized and are in critical condition.
The father identified as Ronnie Ochieng’ Nyore on Tuesday, December 6 evening wounded his children over alleged domestic wrangles between him and his wife.
Moreover, East Kochia Location chief Kennedy Odero who arrived at the scene, reported that Ronnie stabbed the children in the stomach using a kitchen knife after he allegedly poisoned them using a pesticide known as Triatix which is used in controlling ticks in livestock.
The Chief further said they found the empty pesticide bottle believed to have been used by the deceased to kill himself and to poison his children.
According to the administrator, Ronnie locked himself at his rental house in Nyagoro Center together with the four children where he poisoned and stabbed before committing suicide by consuming the pesticide.

Likewise, Chief Odero reported that Ronnie had constant altercations with his wife which prompted her to report the matter at Omoya chief’s camp to seek intervention.
Furthermore, the Chief narrated that the wife went back home only to find her husband locked inside the house. Upon pushing the door, she found the children lying in a pool of blood and her husband already dead.
Nonetheless, Bodaboda riders and area residents who responded to her distress call rushed the children to Janeiro Private hospital where they were later transferred to the Homa Bay county referral hospital in critical condition.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the root cause of the incident. The body of the deceased has been moved to the county referral mortuary awaiting postmortem.
