The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has responded to several issues raised by students following the re-opening of its online application system for revision of choices for placement of students to universities and colleges for the 2025/2026 Placement Cycle.
KUCCPS, in a statement on May 17, 2025, announced that the system is now open for the revision of university, college, and program choices from May 18th to 27th, 2025.
Applicants who did not secure a course in the application that ended on April 30, 2025, were invited to log in again and choose the remaining courses as listed on the portal.
Form four leavers who attained a mean grade in their respective KCSE examinations but are yet to make an application for placement were also invited.
Following the opening of the revision window, several students raised concerns and sought clarification on various issues through the KUCCPS online platforms and social media pages.

KUCCPS responds to queries on placement revision after re-opening portal
One common question came from applicants who expressed confusion about how to know if they had been successfully placed in a course during the initial application round.
Some noted that their portal showed no confirmation message or institutional assignment.
“We’re sending out SMS messages. You’ll receive one shortly. Also, keep refreshing your portal,” KUCCPS responded
Some students also complained of experiencing technical delays during the first application period—particularly those whose payment transactions did not reflect on the portal.
KUCCPS clarified that such students will not be required to pay again.
“They will use the same payment,” the agency confirmed, reassuring affected applicants that their initial transaction remains valid for use during the revision period.
Another frequently misunderstood feature is the Course Basket, where many students assumed that adding courses to the basket equated to applying. KUCCPS emphasized that placing courses in the basket is only a preparatory step.
“Those are courses you left in the Course Basket, which is not the same as applying,” KUCCPS stated. “To apply, click ‘Application/Revision’ on the menu bar.”
The agency further urged all applicants to carefully follow the provided instructions and timelines to ensure their submissions are complete and valid.
To access the portal, applicants should visit the KUCCPS website ( kuccps.ac.ke) and click the tab “Student’s Portal”.
