Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is one of the higher institutions in Kenya, located in Juja, 36 kilometres north-east of Nairobi, along the Nairobi-Thika Highway.
JKUAT was initially established in 1981 as a Middle-Level College under the name Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology (JKCAT), with significant support from the Japanese Government.

The idea to create JKCAT was first proposed in 1977, and in early 1978, the founding president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, donated 200 hectares of land for the college.
The first group of students enrolled on 4th May 1981, and the college was officially opened by former President Daniel Arap Moi on 17th March 1982.

On 1st September 1988, JKCAT became a constituent college of Kenyatta University through a legal notice under the Kenyatta University Act (CAP 210c) and was renamed Jomo Kenyatta University College of Agriculture and Technology (JKUCAT).
Finally, on 7th December 1994, it was officially established as a full university through the JKUAT Act, 1994.

Former President Mwai Kibaki awarded the university a charter onย February 25, 2013
The institution offers various programmes, from certificates to diplomas to undergraduates and post-graduates.
JKUAT Courses Offered, Fees, Location and Campuses
JKUAT offers a wide range of undergraduate degree programs catering to various fields.
Among these are the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, which progresses into the Bachelor of Architecture over a span of four to six years, and the Bachelor of Business and Office Management.
The university also offers the Bachelor of Business Information Technology, Bachelor of Commerce, and Bachelor of Construction Management, with the latter spanning four years.
For those interested in corporate communication, JKUAT provides the Bachelor of Corporate Communication Management.
Additionally, the Bachelor of Development Studies and the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, engineering, and medical laboratory, which also last four years, are available.
The university is renowned for its medical and health-related courses, offering the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), as well as nursing programs, including the Bachelor of Nursing and the Upgrading Bachelor of Nursing.
JKUAT also provides a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Quantity Surveying, and the Bachelor of Radiography, the latter of which has an Upgrading Module available on a part-time basis.
Other notable offerings include the Bachelor of Real Estate, Bachelor of Science in Business Computing, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and the Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology.
JKUAT Campus branches are located in Karen, Nairobi (Westlands), Mombasa and Nakuru.
