History Of Koelel Forces Academy
Koelel Forces Academy was established in 1966 to provide education for the children of personnel associated with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) as well as learners from the surrounding community in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
Over time, the academy evolved into a C2 public boys’ boarding school, formerly an extra county school.

In line with Kenya’s ongoing education reforms, Koelel Forces Academy transitioned to a senior secondary school under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) framework.
From January 2026, the institution began admitting Grade 10 learners, offering pathways in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Social Sciences (Humanities and Business Studies), and Arts and Sports (Performing/Visual Arts and Physical Education) in accordance with the CBE structure.
Koelel Forces Academy has grown to serve approximately 1,600 students, offering a balance of academics and co-curricular activities.
