Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) is a public university located in Kakamega, Western Kenya.
On September 30, 2007, the institution achieved full university status through an Act of Parliament and was renamed Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).

However, the origins of MMUST date back to January 5, 1972, when it was established as the Western College of Arts and Applied Sciences (WECO).
It has branches with its Main Campus in Kakamega Town, in Western Kenya. Other branches include Webuye Campus, situated in Webuye, in Bungoma County. This campus serves students from the surrounding areas.

Minimum requirements for each of the degree courses include Mean grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE and at least a C+ (plus) in English, or 2 principal passes at A-level and 1 subsidiary in

For Diploma courses, minimum requirements include Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE or a Certificate in the relevant field from a recognized institution.
However, for certificate courses a student will require Minimum entry requirements for the certificate courses shall be D (Plain) in KCSE.
Fees and Duration
For Degree courses the fee range of Ksh 76,5000 per semester for a duration of 4 years, while for Diploma courses the fee range is Ksh 30,000 per semester. For certificate courses, the fee range is Ksh 20,000 per semester with a duration of 2 semesters per academic year.
