NMG Managing Editor Oliver Mathenge Announces Exit After 3 Years-Stint

Nation Media Group (NMG) Managing Director (Audiences and Engagement) Oliver Mathenge has announced his exit from the media house.

Mathenge made the announcement in a statement on Thursday, December 26, while reflecting his 9-year journey at NMG, which he achieved in two stints.

The former NTV Multimedia Editor first joined the Kimathi-street based media house in 2007 where he worked for five years as a news journalist before his exit.

He would then rejoin the company in December 2021 for his second stint which saw him rise to the position of managing editor, a post he has been holding since April 2023.

While announcing his exit, Mathenge reflected on his journey since rejoining NMG, highlighting it as collaborative and transformative.

“Not sure who but I know someone once said that; “We are but temporary custodians of the roles we hold; what matters is the impact we leave behind and the relationships we build.” This “quote” rings true as I walk out of Nation Media Group where I have spent half of my career, including the last three years. These past three years have been an incredible journey of learning, collaboration, and transformation, and I am deeply grateful for the experiences and relationships I have built within this organization,” he said.
