Veteran journalist Kenyan journalist and founder of Chams Media Alex Chamwada, has celebrated Bwabi Isaya, his former security guard, who graduated from the Kenya Institute of Mas Communication – KIMC in Eldoret.
In a statement on Thursday, December 14, Chamwada highlighted Isaya’s resilience noting that he started out as his security guard at Chams Media.
However, Isiya showed interest in the journalistic work Chamwada was doing and picked up the camera.
In addition, the Chams Media founder noted that he decided to mentor Isaya through the journey, and he enrolled to pursue journalism at KIMC.
“Glad one of my mentees Bwabi isaya is among the graduands being awarded certificates today at the 3rd graduation ceremony of Kenya Institute of Mas Communication Eldoret campus.
“Ceremony to be graced by ICT CS Eliud Owalo. Bwabi from Bungoma County was a security guard in Nairobi before he joined the Campus to transit into journalism with the support of Chams Media” stated Chamwada.

Isaya’s Message to Chamwada
The now top videographer at Chams Media celebrated his achievement, expressing his gratitude to his mentor.
Further, Isaya shared images of himself with Chamwada by his side as donned his graduation gown and award.
Also, he credited Chamwada for his journey into the discovery of photojournalism, thanking God for his new achievement.
“Thanks a lot Alex Chamwada and everyone who has contributed to the discovery and growing of my career as a photojournalist.
“I thank God for His Grace, favor and for transforming life to this level, and the person who has contributed to this being led by the CEO of Chams Media. Thank you so much,” he stated.
Notably, Isaya is currently traveling with Chamwada in their quest to tell untold stories across the world.
Chams Media Anniversary
Chams Media turned 10 years old on December 1, 2023. In an interview with The Kenya Times, Chamwada shared his journey to building the renowned media organization.
Further, he noted that it was not an easy journey adding that he quit his job to ensure that he brought his storytelling vision to reality.

“Also, I was so passionate, and nothing could have taken me off my plan. I am happy that ten years on many have come to me for advice, asking how do I do it? I want to go independent like you.
“Furthermore, many institutions within the media are using our expertise and experience to help train journalists.
I can confidently say I am living my dream; I am proud I feel so great to be celebrating 10 years in the independent media,” he stated.
