Kenya is opening new overseas employment pathways after facilitating 10 major strategic partnerships on labor mobility with countries and international employers.
The agreements cover opportunities in Germany, Japan, the UK, Austria, the US, Canada, Jersey and Armenia, with a focus on employment, skills transfer and international collaboration.
According to the State Department for Diaspora Affairs (SDDA) Sub-sector Report (2026), the partnerships are intended to promote safe and orderly labor mobility, increase remittances, and support targeted skills transfer.
“The State Department has spearheaded a shift toward ethical, safe and orderly labor mobility through facilitating negotiation and signing of ten (10) strategic partnerships on labor mobility with potential employers/countries,” the report read in part.
Kenya Secures 10 International Job Opportunities
The Sub-sector Report states that Kenya signed a Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement with Germany and an MoU with Austria on Mobility and Migration.
A separate agreement with the UK’s HOPS Labor Solutions will facilitate the placement of Kenyan seasonal agricultural workers under the Mkulima Majuu Program.
The State Department also signed an agreement with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Germany focused on remote job opportunities.
An MoU with GR8 Employment Solutions and Training Limited of Jersey Island seeks to promote employment opportunities for Kenyans.

Skills and Training Opportunities
The report also notes that Kenya signed an MoU with the State of Nebraska in the United States covering diaspora diplomacy, student and apprenticeship training, skills and technology transfer, and cultural exchange.
Kenya also signed two MoUs with Japan’s Shimizu Corporation focused on skills, innovation, and global collaboration involving the University of Nairobi and Technical University of Kenya.
In addition, the state also signed a Letter of Intent with Canada on labor mobility and another with Germany Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa (AHK Eastern Africa).
Separately, an MoU with Armenia on Diaspora Cooperation will support diaspora engagement, youth cooperation, cultural exchange, and knowledge sharing between the two countries.

Government Warns Youth Over Fake Job Schemes Used to Facilitate Transboundary Crimes
The government, through the sub-sector report, has warned young Kenyans to exercise caution when pursuing overseas employment opportunities, following concerns that some purported labor recruitment schemes are being used to facilitate transboundary crimes.
Authorities have reported cases where people seeking jobs abroad are allegedly lured into situations involving forced labor, drug trafficking, money laundering and online fraud.
The government is working with agencies including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Employment Authority (NEA) to strengthen enforcement against fraudulent and exploitative recruitment practices.
The warning comes as authorities seek to protect job seekers from recruitment networks that may disguise criminal activities as legitimate employment opportunities.
