The Murang’a County Government has announced recruitment for the 10th cohort of the Murang’a Youth Service (MYS), offering unemployed young people temporary employment, skills training and business grants.
In an announcement on October 16, the county said the recruitment exercise will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m., across designated venues in Kandara, Kangema, Mathioya, Kigumo, Gatanga and Ithanga sub-counties.
According to the county government, the programme will run for three months, combining temporary employment with targeted short courses to equip participants with skills for self-employment.
“Youth unemployment is a major challenge currently facing young people across the country, particularly in Murang’a County. To address this, the County Government has initiated the Murang’a Youth Service (MYS). This program offers temporary employment and targeted short courses for a duration of three months,” read part of the announcement.
Successful participants will receive grants to serve as seed capital for starting their own businesses after completing the training and service period.
Who Can Apply
The recruitment is open to unemployed Murang’a County residents aged between 18 and 35 years.
Applicants must possess a valid national identity card, while no formal education qualifications are required.
The county government said the recruitment process would involve balloting and that successful participants would be expected to transition to vocational and technical training centres and graduate.

In Kandara, recruitment will take place at several centres, including Kaguthi Dispensary, Mukoe Dispensary, Kiranga Shopping Centre, Ng’araria Chief’s Camp, Kiangari Chief’s Camp, Mung’aria Chief’s Camp, Mutheru Playground, Kagunduini Polytechnic, Kariguini Dispensary, Kagumoini Shopping Centre, Ngurwe-ini Chief’s Camp and Kariua Health Centre.
At the same time, in Mathioya, venues include Kiria-ini Chief’s Camp, Kora Chief’s Camp, Kihari TBC, Thuita A.C.K. Church, Kamune Chief’s Camp, Kiria A.C.K. Church, Kamacharia ACC Office, Gakoe Chief’s Camp, Chui Chief’s Camp, Gitugi Chief’s Camp, Gachiriro Chief’s Camp, Ngutu Chief’s Camp, Njumbi ACC Office, Gacharage-ini Chief’s Camp and Kagongo Tea Buying Centre

In Kigumo, recruitment will be conducted at Wakibugi Tea Buying Centre in Mariira, Kanderedu Shopping Centre in Makomboki, Kangari Polytechnic, Kangundu Chief’s Camp in Kinyona, Kamung’ang’a ACK Grounds in Gachocho and Gacharage Playground.
Other designated venues are Kamukambi Chief’s Camp, Kigumo Primary School, Nguku Primary School in Githima, Kirere Chief’s Camp, Kambi Chief’s Camp in Gikarangu, Karuri Chief’s Camp in Munguini, Muthithi Dispensary, A.C.K Githembe Church in Kahumbu, Kahumbu Polytechnic in Giathaini and Mwema ECDE Playground in Kandani.

In Gatanga, the recruitment venues include Kirwara Polytechnic, Rwegetha Chief’s Camp in Chomo, Gatunyu Field in Mugumoini, Giatutu Field in Kiriaini, Kiriaini Chief’s Camp in Kihumbu-Ini, Kihumbu-ini Chief’s Camp in Mukurwe, Mukurwe Chief’s Camp in Kiunyu and Kiunyu Assistant Chief’s Office in Mukarara.
Applicants can also report to Gatura Catholic Church in Kariara, Kiarutara Primary School in Ngabuya, Mbugiti Shopping Centre, Kigoro Chief’s Camp in Ndakaini, Kimandi Assistant Chief’s Office in Ndunyu Chege, Ndunyu Chege Market in Muthuri and Gathambara Playground.
