The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced 387 job vacancies for its graduates in Israel.
“In an advertisement, the service highlighted that it had secured job opportunities for its graduates through a partnership with an undisclosed reputable company.
Additionally, the advert stated that the positions are offered on a contract lasting up to 5 years and 3 months (63 months).
“Through our reputable and duly registered manpower outsourcing agency in Kenya, we are thrilled to inform our valued graduates about the exciting construction opportunities in Israel,” the statement read in part.
NYS announces vacancies in Israel
NYS graduates have been encouraged to apply for the various positions including Construction Carpenters and Steel Fixers, which have 80 vacancies each.

Successful candidates will earn a basic salary up to Ksh250,000.
Other vacancies with Ksh250,000 basic salary include Plasterers (50), Tile Masons (50), Heavy Machinery Operators (40), Electricians (20), and Plumbers (30).
The Israeli company has also allocated positions where successful candidates will earn a basic salary of up to Ksh350,000.
These include Foreman -Carpentry (8), Foreman -Steel Fixing (8), Foreman -Plastering (6), Foreman -Masonry (5).
On the other hand, 10 slots have been set aside for Civil Engineers/Civil Foreman.
Interested applicants must be male and be aged between 25 to 45 Years.
Employment terms
NYS announced that the employment period for successful candidates will span up to 63 months, providing a long-term job opportunity in a rapidly growing sector.
Successful candidates will be expected to work at least 236 hours in a full work month, with the workweek consisting of 6 days running from Sunday to Friday.
A full workday is defined from Sunday to Thursday, with Friday being a half day. Saturday on the other hand is designated as a resting day.
For a full workday, workers will be required to work up to 12 hours. On Fridays, which are half days, workers will work up to 8 hours.
The basic hourly wage for construction workers will be 32.30 New Israeli Shekels (approximately Ksh1,163) per hour for up to 182 hours worked each month.
From the 183rd to the 236th work hour each month, workers will be paid overtime at a rate of 125% of the basic hourly wage.

For hours worked beyond the 237th hour in a month, workers will receive overtime pay at a rate of 150% of the basic hourly wage.
Guaranteed Base Monthly Salary and other benefits
For the first 182 hours of work in a month, workers will receive a guaranteed base monthly salary of 5,880 New Israeli Shekels (approximately Ksh211,830).
For the 54 overtime hours (from the 183rd to the 236th hour), workers will be guaranteed a minimum overtime salary of 2,181 New Israeli Shekels (approximately Ksh78,580).
Considering both the base salary and guaranteed overtime, workers will earn a minimum gross monthly salary of 8,061 New Israeli Shekels (approximately Ksh290,487).
In addition to the salary structure, the company will provide transportation, personal and work equipment, and height work and safety training.
The travel, visa, pre-departure training, and medical examination costs shall however be borne by the candidate.

NYS said that the recruitment will be an ongoing process with the first group expected to start the process from Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Candidates meeting the job requirements will be contacted for practical tests (interviews) at National Youth Service Engineering Institute in groups beginning that Tuesday.
