National Treasury through the State Department of Economic Planning has advertised mass job opportunities.
In a notice dated Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the State Department invited eligible applicants to apply for 244 positions of Senior Economist/Statistician (CSG 8).
“The State Department for Economic Planning invites applications from qualified persons for the position of Senior Economist/Statistician, CSG 8,” read part of the notice.
To qualify for appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
- Have served in the position of Economist I/Statistician I for a minimum period of three (3) years.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Economics, Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Economics and Finance, or Economics and Statistics, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Be a member of a relevant professional body.
- Possess a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
- Have demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Treasury Announces Job Opportunities for Senior Economist/Statistician
The Senior Economist/Statistician will be responsible for:
- Preparing sectoral policy briefs, reviews, and reports.
- Initiating the preparation of annual, mid-term, and end-term Medium-Term progress reports.
- Implementing decisions and resolutions on the regional economic integration agenda.
- Identifying and addressing emerging sectoral and cross-cutting socioeconomic issues;
- Undertaking economic modelling and forecasting.
- Conducting Programmes Performance Reviews (PPRs) and preparing sub-sector reports for the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
- Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the implementation of national and sector-specific programmes, projects, and activities.

- Tracking milestones in Vision 2030 flagship projects.
- Updating and maintaining databases to generate key information, such as national census data and key survey results, and producing national annual progress reports.
- Coordinating capacity-building support for government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector on planning and development matters.
- Disseminating national policies and strategies to community members through appropriate forums and institutions.
How to Apply
Successful applicants will be entitled to a basic monthly salary ranging from Ksh 52,330 to Ksh 96,130.
They will also receive a house allowance of Ksh 35,000 per month and a commuter allowance of Ksh 8,000 per month. Additionally, a leave allowance of Ksh 6,000 will be provided annually.
The positions are offered on permanent and pensionable terms.
Interested and qualified candidates are required to complete the PSC 2 (Revised 2016) Employment Form, which can be downloaded from the Public Service Commission of Kenya website: www.publicservice.go.ke.
