George Aladwa Omwera is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Makadara Constituency in Nairobi County.
He was first elected to this position in 2017 and successfully defended the seat in the 2022 elections.
He was born in 1970 in Makongeni Estate, Nairobi.
Educational background of George Aladwa
George Aladwa began his education at Joseph Apudo Primary School, where he earned his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education between 1978 and 1985.
He later completed his secondary education at Church Army Secondary School in 2008, receiving the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
In 2014, George Aladwa joined the Kenya Methodist University to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration.
In 2020, he pursued further studies at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science & Technology, earning a Diploma in Business Administration.
Career life
Omwera got into politics at the age of 21 under the influential Kenya African National Union (KANU), which was led by former President Moi.
He ran for the Makongeni Ward seat, in his early years, under KANU in both the 1992 and 1997 general elections, losing by 18 and 160 votes respectively.

George Aladwa served as a Councillor for Makongeni–Kaloleni Ward in 1992, and again in 2007.
In August 2011, he became the last elected Mayor of Nairobi City Council, holding that position until 2013.
From 2011 onward, he also took on a leadership role within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as Nairobi County Chairman, a role he continues to serve.
In 2017, Aladwa was elected MP for Makadara Constituency under the ODM banner, a position he successfully retained in the 2022 general election.
During his tenure in the 12th Parliament (2017–2022), he contributed as a member of both the Lands Committee and the Transport, Public Works & Housing Committee (specifically from 2021 to 2022)
Family life
George Aladwa was born in Makongeni Estate, where his father used to work for the now-defunct Kenya Railways.
He married a Ugandan national who is a banker.
