Gitahi has been the Chief Executive Officer of Amref Health Africa since 2015.
Previously, Dr. Githinji was the Vice president and Regional Director for Africa, at Smile Train International from 2013 to 2015.
In addition, he worked as Managing Director for Monitor Publications in Uganda as well as General Manager for Marketing and Circulation in East Africa for Nation Media.
He has also held other senior positions at GlaxoSmithKline and worked at the Avenue Group and in the insurance industry.
Moreover, Gitahi is Co-Chair of the UHC 2030 Steering Committee, a global World Bank and World Health Organization initiative for UHC.
He holds membership in the Private Sector Advisory Board of Africa.

The medical doctor was awarded the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS), a presidential commendation.
He was issued an award for an outstanding contribution to the health sector while being at the helm of Amref.
