Peter Salasya is a Kenyan politician currently serving as Mumias East Member of Parliament

His demeanor, background and usually vocal takes on issues of national interest have made him hit the headlines from time to time. 

Age and Early Life 

Peter Salasya was born in January 1989. He lost his father when he was in form two.

He joined students’ union politics at Egerton University and was at one point recognized as the best students’ leader.  

Peter Salasya Education Background. 

He started his school life at Shanderema Primary School, where he did his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2005. 

In 2006, Salasya joined Lubinu Boys where he sat his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. 

He decided to pursue a career course in Bachelor of Commerce, Banking and Finance in Egerton University, a course he completed in 2014, paving his way to a career path in banking. 

Career and Politics 

He is the current member of parliament for Mumia East. 

After School, Salasya started his employment life as a Bufalo Bicycle salesperson from 2014-2015. His job was mainly hawking bicycles for sell.  

Later in life, a friend helped him land a good job at Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) as an operations officer/cashier. This is where his banking skills were put into practice. 

While he was working at Diamond Trust Bank, his dream for having a political seat was rekindled. 

In 2017, he joined the elective politics and vied for Member of Parliament for Mumias East. 

However, he lost in his bid and came in nineth among those who had vied, attaining only 254 votes.

After the 2017 elections, Salasya decided to volunteer as a tutor, at the Sigalagala National Polytechnic in Kakamega County.  

He decided to start early campaigns with the little money he earned as tutor. He was vocal about the Mumias Sugar Millers, advocating against the collapse of the Miller. 

His strong position against the collapse of Mumias Sugar Millers, earned him love from the people of Mumias. 

When he decided to go to the ballot again in 2022, he had already had a great following. 

However, he did not have enough resources to oil his campaigns. Nevertheless, the community came together and made him a mud house. 

The Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa paid Ksh100,000 for him to vie for the seat using the DAP-K party. 

He finally won the elective post, making him the Member of Parliament in Mumias East Constituency.

Peter Salasya is still a bachelor. 

Net Worth 
Salasya has not publicly declared his Net Worth. However, according to the Salaries Renumeration Commission gazette notice, a Member of Parliament earns a basic salary of 435,301 Kenyan shillings with an addition of 150,000 for house allowance.
They own an official car with a salary adjustment of 140,201 making,725,502 in total.
