Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has criticized Kenyan leaders blaming cartels for corruption in their designated areas of work saying they are incompetent.
Ahmednasir said such leaders are using cartels as an excuse to defend themselves.
The senior counsel claimed the other reason for blaming cartels could be they are still deciding which faction of the alleged cartels to work with.
“If you hear someone in a position of authority in Kenya blaming “cartels” for the rot/corruption in his area of jurisdiction, then that blame game tells you two things about that person: (a) the person is incompetence and clueless and uses the phrase as a shield (b) That person is still undecided about which of the many cartels to join/patronize”

Moreover, the lawyer’s remarks came after Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha noted she will do away with the cartels in the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) and the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
CS Nakhumicha assured that she will deal with anyone involved in the mess at her ministry, regardless of who they are.
However, the Health CS did not reveal who these culprits are.
This is after the CS suspended the KEMSA board a few weeks ago and announced a new team. CS Nakhumicha also suspended senior managers at the NHIF, in a bid to ensure proper service delivery.
