Airtel Money Kenya has launched Bizna Wallet, targeting small and micro enterprises across the country.  The new solution is designed to help entrepreneurs separate business transactions from personal finances while offering tools to monitor sales, receive payments, and manage cash flow more efficiently, according to Michael Bonke, the Acting Managing Director at Airtel Money Kenya.

Speaking during the Bizna Wallet launch on August 3, Michael Bonke encouraged members of the public to join the wallet, citing that there were no charges for transactions of up to KSh 250,000.

“We want to encourage every Kenyan, every business, to try the Bizna Wallet. As I said, it is free to our customers. Customers can pay to any Bizna Wallet free of charge. There is no charge across all the banks. From one shilling to 250,000 shillings, you can pay to any Bizna Wallet in Kenya for free,” Michael Bonke stated.

According to Airtel Money, the wallet was developed after consultations with customers who cited difficulties in managing business income through personal mobile money accounts.

Bonke further explained that the platform targets kiosk owners, market traders, boda boda riders, matatu operators and other micro-business operators who require a simple way to organize their finances.

How Airtel Money Bizna Wallet Works

Interested entrepreneurs can register for the service through the My Airtel App or by dialing *334# and selecting the Bizna Wallet option.

Registration is available to Airtel Money customers, after which the business wallet is linked to the customer’s existing Airtel Money account while remaining separate from their personal wallet.

Once activated, customers can transfer funds between their personal Airtel Money wallet and Bizna Wallet.

Additionally the users of the Bizna Wallet will receive business payments, monitor transactions through mini statements, and keep track of daily business performance to manage cash flow more effectively while maintaining greater visibility over business income and expenses.

According to Airtel Money, customers can receive payments from Airtel Money users, other mobile money networks, and bank accounts directly into the Bizna Wallet.

Further, the company clarified that customers can send money to any Bizna Wallet free of charge and businesses can receive payments from banks and mobile money platforms across Kenya without transaction fees.

Airtel Expands Cashback Rewards

In addition to the Bizna Wallet launch, Airtel Money announced an expansion of its Rudishiwa cashback program rewards to businesses and individual customers.

Under the initiative, registered Airtel Money users will receive up to 50 percent cashback on qualifying transactions of KSh101 and above.

Eligible transactions include Paybill payments, transfers to other mobile money networks, bank-to-wallet transactions and wallet-to-bank transfers.

Unlike earlier reward programs that relied on airtime incentives, the cashback will be credited as cash into a dedicated cashback wallet.

Customers awarded the Rudishiwa Cashback will be able to transfer the funds into their main Airtel Money account and use them across available services.

“Initially, we had airtime rewards, and now we have introduced real cash rewards that go into your cashback wallet for every eligible transaction. Customers can transfer the cash from the cashback wallet into the main Airtel Money wallet,” Michael Bonke noted.

Satellite Connectivity and Data Center Plans

Airtel Kenya Managing Director Ashish Malhotra emphasized that the company is continuing to invest heavily in network expansion and digital infrastructure to improve customer experience and support economic growth.

Among the projects in the pipeline is a hyperscale Data Center, expected to become operational next year and strengthen Kenya’s position as a leading technology hub in East Africa.

Malhotra also disclosed plans to introduce Direct-to-Cell (DTC) satellite connectivity in partnership with SpaceX, pending regulatory approvals.

According to Malhotra, customers traveling to remote regions such as Garissa, Wajir and border areas will be able to stay connected seamlessly when terrestrial network coverage is unavailable.
