The post-mortem examination of two men who were abducted in the county of Elgeyo Marakwet and discovered dumped in Nakuru a week ago has revealed that they were tortured to death.
Simon Yego and Collins Kipyatich were abducted on May 30 in different locations within Tot, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Their mutilated bodies were discovered three days later, dumped along the Mogotio-Kiptuno road in Nakuru county.
Collins was the first to be abducted using an ambulance around 10 am while receiving treatment at the Tot Health Centre.
Later that day, at around 5.30 pm, Simon was also abducted by an ambulance outside Tot Primary School.
The female passenger who was in Simon’s car during the abduction, later informed his family that the kidnappers questioned her about the murder of Father Allois Cheruiyot Bett.
The families have demanded justice and accused the government of remaining silent about the abduction and killings of their loved ones.
How the Two Were Picked in Elgeyo Marakwet
Collin’s family said he had been admitted to the Tot Hospital for one day before he was picked by police officers.
One of the relatives told the media that they were not aware the kidnappers were officers since they were not in uniform.
He stated that Collins was taken to the Tot police station without a clear explanation of his offence.
“We didn’t know it was the police because they were dressed in civilian clothes. But he was arrested and brought to Tot police station,” he said.

“When he was arrested by the police, people were wondering what offence he had committed.”
Simon’s relative explained that he was tortured and suffocated to death.
He said Simon’s hands had been chopped off, his knees broken and he was brutally beaten on the chest.
“They cut off all of his hands, and we are going to bury the body without the hands. Simon died due to beatings on the chest; his knees were broken, and he was suffocated. As a family, we want the truth,” he said.

Abductions on the Rise
The family said abductions and extrajudicial killings have increased since President William Ruto took over.
One of the relatives said Ruto promised to stop abductions, but they have increased instead.
He said the police are accused of killing the two men, and the government should provide a clear explanation on what transpired.
“Unnecessary killings are on the rise in Kenya, despite our president’s pledge to stop them. We felt that it was too much compared to before he took over,” he said.
“Abduction and extrajudicial killings are high. We want to know what happened and who arrested him because the fingers are still pointing to security.”
