A section Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leaders have criticized the nomination of 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs) to deputize Cabinet Secretaries in state departments.
The opposition leaders led by Azimio spokesperson Makau Mutua rebuked president Ruto saying he is unconcerned about the economic state of the country.

Moreover, Makau Mutua stated that the move to nominate 50 CASs will burden Kenyans with a strenuous public wage.
“Mr Ruto saddles Kenya’s broke state with 50 CAS Rejects, Incompetents, and Fools!” Mutua exclaimed, while reacting to President Ruto’s Thursday’s announcement of CAS nominees.

Likewise, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina echoed Mutua’s sentiments labelling the 50 nominees as political rejects.
Ledama further noted that being the “chief hustler”, the president who campaigned on the platform of upward social mobility should have appointed the youth.

“We are ready for Monday because the ‘chief hustler’ does not give a hoot in hell about hustlers!” Ledama stated.

“He has rewarded 50 political rejects with salaries amounting to Sh1.2Billion every year for doing nothing! If he really cared about hustlers, why didn’t he appoint the youth as CAS?” he posed.
On his part, Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya noted that the government is awarding cronies despite a struggling economy.
“When it comes to jobs it’s them and their cronies,” he said.
Similarly, Kabando Wa Kabando termed President Ruto’s move as deceptive and insensitive towards the hustlers.
“We recognize Ruto constitutionally validated President, but we admit he is insensitive to mass sufferings, he is deceptive, he is clueless,” Kabando said.
