Faustine Lipuku Lukale alias Baba Talisha and Brian Chira’s grandmother Esther Njeri have engaged in a heated online argument over the Ksh 8 million funeral funds.
In a video seen by The Kenya Times, Chira’s grandmother claims she has been kept in the dark regarding the funds, adding that she paid off Baba Talisha a debt of Ksh 200,000 he spent during Chira’s funeral.
“Walienda na simu yangu wakawithdraw pesa ya kulipa madeni. Ati wanashikwa Kasarani Police Station wanapiga simu ati deni ya mama wa kupika, tent na viti. Nlilipa madeni na deni lingine la Baba T shillingi elfu 200,000 nlimlipa.”
Loosely translated to:
“They took my phone and withdrew money for the debts. They called me that they were arrested at Kasarani Police Station over debts of the cook, tent, and chairs. I paid off debts and another debt from Baba T of Ksh 200,000, I paid it off.”
“Tukitoka mahali alikuwa ananiambia shosho unajua mimi natumia pesa yangu karibu elfu 200,000 nikamuambia mungu atakubariki kumbe ni ujanja wakanilipisha hiyo pesa ati wanafanya hivo juu ya Brian.”
Loosely translated to:
“As we left the place, he was telling me, Shosho, you know I have spent almost 200,000 shillings from my pockets.” I told him, “God will bless you,” but it turns out it was a trick, they made me pay that money, saying they did it because of Brian,” she said.

Baba Talisha Responds after Claims on Funeral Funds
On his side Baba T rubbished the allegations terming them as defamation that calls for a lawsuit.
He also asked all those who are claiming he squandered Chira’s funeral contributions to provide bank receipts and Mpesa statements to prove their allegations.
“Let them go print bank and M-Pesa statements and share them publicly. Yaani hata shosho anasema Ksh 40,000 nilipewa nilienda nazo (She says I was given Ksh 40,000 and I went with it)! Oh, my goodness,” he said.
That Shosho is something else. Si wameamua kudanganya wacha sasa tupelekane nao Kortini. That is defamation bro. You can’t lie about my name. Sahi anasema hakuwa anajua kwamba mchango ulikuwa unafanywa.
“They’ve decided to deceive us, let’s take them to court. Now she’s saying she didn’t know that people were making contributions” Baba T said.

According to Faustine, the first time they visited the late Chira’s grandmother, she had noted that she needed a piece of land to put up a structure where she would live.
He further recalled working tirelessly to ensure Chira had a good sendoff, noting how much he is shocked over claims that he squandered the contribution.
“I couldn’t sleep at night, and now they’re saying they didn’t know what the money was used for.”
“I owe Chira’s grandfather an apology. Whatever she has done to me, I don’t think I’ll ever do charity on social media again,” the TikToker said.
