Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has declared he is the best-fit person to succeed opposition leader Raila Odinga as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader.
In a statement, Babu urged the Azimio leader to relinquish the ODM party leadership position to enable him to focus on the Africa Union Chairmanship position.
“Raila Amolo Odinga has made it clear that he wishes to be succeeded in his role as Party leader by someone who will help the party capture power and use it to transform the governance of our country, and I am ready to throw my life in the pursuit of that single vision,” Babu stated.
Additionally, Babu issued a list of demands to the ODM leadership.
Babu’s Demands
Babu Owino said the ODM party requires rigorous reforms to enable it to rejuvenate its grassroots engagements so that it can win clear margins in Parliament and County Assemblies.
He said the reforms will enable the party to enforce its manifesto and campaign promises should it win the Presidency in 2027, and he is ready to do exactly that.
The legislator also urged the party to absorb and mentor young people, who now make up more than 50 percent of the country’s population, to guide them as they play their part in nation-building and expressed his readiness to lead in that crucial role.
