Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has offered to expand the business of a mandazi vendor in Mombasa County after hosting her at his residence in the coastal city.
The DP said in a statement on Thursday, April 4, that he had noticed how the woman served her customers cheerfully while on his morning walks along Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa City.
The woman, identified as Asha Sidi Chengo, warmed the heart of the Deputy President and he decided to reach out to her to understand her drive and motivation.
Later, he learnt that the woman was the breadwinner for her family and was striving to provide and secure a future for her children.
“In my early morning walks along Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa City, I usually notice this particular woman engrossed in baking mandazi and cheerfully serving it with tea to her customers, mostly hustlers walking to their places of work.”
“Today, I reached out to her to understand her drive. She is Asha Sidi Chengo, whose focus is to fend for the family and secure the future of her children,” stated Gachagua.
