Kenyan comedian Henry Desagu, widely known for his humorous takes on the struggles of the boychild, has been hospitalized.
According to Gatundu MP Elijah Njoroge, Desagu is battling severe depression, a revelation that has sparked concern among fans and fellow entertainers.
Further, the MP stated that Desagu’s condition had worsened significantly, leading to his hospitalization at Mathari Hospital, a facility known for treating mental health conditions.
Reports indicate that the comedian had begun exhibiting unusual behaviour, including talking to himself, raising fears among his friends and colleagues that he was struggling with a mental health crisis.
Desagu has been consistently posting content to millions of his online followers, with his last post shared on January 31, 2025.
Also, he is scheduled to perform at an event on February 14, for valentines day alongside other comedians.

Kenyans Raising Funds for Henry Desagu
Consequently, called on Kenyans to support Desagu through recovery.
Additionally, he announced a fundraising initiative to raise Ksh1 million for Desagu’s treatment and rehabilitation.
“We will not watch as this great boychild, Henry Desagu, whose comedy brings laughter to all of us, is brought down by depression and alcoholism.”
“We will pray for his recovery, ensure he gets quality medical attention, and get our lively Desagu back,” Njoroge stated.
He personally kickstarted the effort with a contribution of Ksh100,000, urging well-wishers to join in supporting the comedian’s journey to recovery.

The news has sparked conversations on social media about the mental health struggles of public figures especially comedians, and the importance of seeking help.
X user George Diano called on entertainers to remain vigilant about taking care of their mental health and maintaining financial responsibility.
“The biggest mistake most comedians make is thinking that being in comedy is a place to eat all on earth without thinking of an extra income out of entertainment.
“These comedians should know after the party there is life. All the comedians that we’ve lost were as a result of depression and alcohol,” he stated.
Moreover, fans and fellow entertainers have expressed their support for Desagu, hoping for his swift recovery and return to the comedy scene.
