IEBC commissioner, Justus Nyang’aya has refuted reports of a fallout among the commission’s staff.
Nyang’aya denied claims that IEBC commissioners were divided over the arrival of the first batch of ballot papers on July 7
Speaking to Ramogi TV on Saturday, July 9, the commissioner acknowledged that the commission was caught off guard by the surprise arrival of the consignment.
“We formed a project implementation committee which was tasked with being the link between the Greek company and the commission,” he said.
“They are the ones who delayed in communicating the arrival of the ballot papers including the chairman, Wafula Chebukati, himself,” he added.
On Thursday IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati said that the commission was only informed a few hours to the arrival of the ballot papers.
Questions were raised on how the ballot papers were printed before the IEBC gazettes names of candidates contesting in the August polls.
IEBC however clarified that it had started by printing ballot papers for areas where there are no disputes.
The commission is expected to receive the last batch of ballot papers on July 30, days before the polls.
At the same time, IEBC has invited presidential aspirants to inspect the printing of ballot papers .
