National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has revoked the appointment of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.
In a gazette notice dated June 26, 2025, Mbadi announced the revocation of Wangamati’s appointment as Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Board of Trustees, with effect from Friday, June 27, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with Section 51(1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati as the Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, with effect from June 27, 2025,” read part of the notice.
Wangamati’s removal comes one year after his appointment to the position.
Mbadi Revokes Wangamati’s Appointment
He had been appointed by former Treasury CS Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u in a gazette notice dated June 6, 2024.
“The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati to be the Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from June 7, 2024,” the earlier notice read.

Wangamati served as the second Governor of Bungoma from 2017 to 2022, after defeating then-incumbent Kenneth Lusaka in the 2017 General Election. However, he lost the seat to Lusaka in the 2022 elections.
The former Bungoma Governor is a qualified Actuary and an experienced Senior Manager with both Local and International experience in Pensions and Investment Consultancy.
Prior joining politics he served as the Managing Director and shareholder of all the holdings of Zamara formerly Alexander Forbes in Kenya.
Other State Appointments
Several appointments have also been made across various state departments.
ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo appointed Lucy Minayo Lugatia and Anthony Nzau Musau as members of the Complaints Commission for a period of three years, effective May 15, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 27(4) of the Media Council Act, Cap. 411B, the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy appoints Lucy Minayo Lugatia and Anthony Nzau Musau to be members of the Complaints Commission, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from May 15, 2025,” the gazette notice stated.

Additionally, President William Ruto has appointed three individuals to serve on the National Police Service Commission. The three appointees are Peris Muthoni Kimani, Benjamin Juma Imai, and Prof. Collete A. Suda.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 246(2)(a) of the Constitution, as read with Section 6(8) of the National Police Service Commission Act, 2011, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint—
- Under paragraph 2(a)(ii): Peris Muthoni Kimani, Benjamin Juma Imai,
- Under paragraph 2(a)(iii): Prof. Collete A. Suda,
to be members of the National Police Service Commission for a term of six (6) years,” the notice read.
