Michael Macharia Njiri, famously known as Dj Brownskin has been charged with two counts of aiding suicide and neglect to prevent a felony in the case of his late wife’s death.
Contrary to section 225 (b) of the penal code, Dj Brownskin aided the death by suicide of the late Sharon Njeri Mwangi and failed to use all reasonable cause to prevent it.

Allegedly, on July 29, 2022, at Kariobangi South, Buruburu sub-county he counseled Sharon Njeri Mwangi to kill herself.
The DJ is also charged with destroying evidence, where he is alleged to have “knowing that his mobile phone with SIM card number which was in his possession might be required in evidence in a judicial proceeding willfully removed it with intent to prevent being used in evidence.”

On June 4, DCI said the DJ was arrested after defying summons by police to record a statement in relation to his wife’s death.

“In a heart-wrenching video tape released by a popular blogger on April 1, 9 months after Njeri’s remains had been buried, her last moments were filmed by the DJ as she emptied a poisonous substance into a cup and ingested it without hesitation. She then slumped on a couch and called her two children to inform them of her impending death,” the DCI said in a statement adding that the suspect sent the video to his other girlfriend living abroad.
