Drama ensued after a section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmakers and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Senator Gloria Orwoba nearly engaged in a fistfight during a live press briefing.
The Members of Parliament engaged in a confrontation over alleged involvement of President Wiliam Ruto in the arrest of Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o on Tuesday December 5.
Senator Gloria Orwoba was among other Kisii legislators addressing members of the press over the dramatic arrest before she clashed with her colleagues.
According to the nominated senator, reports going rounds on Ruto’s involvement with Nyakang’o arrest were false and the arrest had nothing to do with her party leader.
“Whatever is happening is not any doing of the president and if you have noticed any time something is being cooked by those people who think they have powers around our party leader,” Orwoba dismissed the ODM lawamkers.
Additionally, the legislator while defending the head of state argued that those dragging Ruto in to Nyakang’o arrest were strategic about their motive.
“They always wait for him to leave the country. We have seen it,” Orwoba noted.
ODM MP go after Orwoba
However, Orwoba’s remarks did not go well with Kitutu Chache legislator Antoney Kibagendi, a member of ODM, who lashed out at the Senator.

According to the MP, Orwoba was defending the head of state, further maintaining that President Ruto sanctioned the arrest and that he was attacking the Gusii community.
“You cannot defend the President. The President is involved, and he has been attacking our community. He knows we cannot allow that,” stated Kibagendi.
Meanwhile, Orwoba asked Kibagendi to take over the presser and address the nation.
However other ODM MPs stepped in, forcing the opposition legislator to walk out after a bitter exchange.
But for Orwoba, Ruto is an innocent man.
“The President has nothing to do with this, and as a matter of fact. I am here because I am also upset because it is a woman leader who is being removed,” said Orwoba
She continued, “We urge him to come forward and stop this because our community is being targeted.”
